Pop quiz: What is missing from this picture???
Ding ding ding - if you said a cd player you are correct. The jalapi was broken into either Wednesday or Thursday night and a few things were stolen. They broke out a window and stole the radio and our emergency kit bag which actually had a lot of stuff in it.
In hindsight, we should have removed the face plate from the radio but I don't think that would have done much since it seems they tried to steal the car too - since the ignition was broke. So that's a bummer and I was not too pleased when I went to the car in the a.m. and found broken out glass everywhere. It's like a violation of your privacy. I also found it kind of ironic that they stole the cd player and the emergency kit but left the cds that we had in there. I guess they didn't like our taste in music.
The past week was pretty brutal - highlights included getting off on the wrong subway station and wandering around downtown SF lost looking for the bus stop for the "dirty 30 bus". This is bus number 30 that we've coined the "dirty 30" because it's a pretty hairy bus ride to get to downtown since the bus goes through Chinatown. So the Chinese folks are pretty accustomed to smashing their faces against each other and breathing on each other and there are lots of them and they are all old with canes. SOOOOO.... you are supposed to give up your seat on the bus for the old folks - which leaves you standing in the aisle of the bus doing your best to remain upright while people all around you are speaking foreign languages and cramming in.
This left me with the goal to find an alternate bus - which there are a few. So now we are learning what buses to take when - and the price you'll pay. I also found it funny that they don't announce the stops on the BART (Bay area subway). They just stop and everyone shuffles in and shuffles out and I am left thinking "is this Powell or Montgomery?" so I get off and then say to myself "damn - wrong stop". This is all of importance because it's actually easier and a bit nicer to just hop on transit to get to work instead of driving. We're still working the kinks out of that whole scene.

We've been enjoying the awesome September weather here. It's been sunny and nice most days and we have been to the beach every weekend we can. We both have wetsuits now and I bought a boogie board and we have fins that we bought on our honeymoon so we've been boogie boarding and bodysurfing and having a blast. As you can see by the picture on the left... I found a new use for my ASRC "rain backpack" : )
love you all! We're up and running with internet at home so I promise we'll post more pics and tales of the craziness in SF.

Gosh that totally sucks! You guys are the kings of getting your car broken into.. even in your own driveway! Bummer that you had to deal with the crap.
Glad you are enjoying being out of AK for this September and get to actually be going into water! Pretty sweet.
Miss you guys!
